Operating Systems
There are many different kinds of software anyone can put on a computer. The most important software is the operating system, which manages the computer's memory, processes, and all of it other software and hardware. The three most common operating systems for PC's are Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, and Linux. Though there are more than those three operating systems, although the others are less used. Windows comes preloaded on most new PC's, which makes it the most popular operating system in the world. One of the founders of Microsoft, which is Bill Gates, is now a billionaire because Microsoft was and still is a big hit.
The 2nd operating system I’m going to talk about is Mac OS, which is the least popular between Microsoft and Apple. Mac OS comes preloaded on all Macintosh’s, and it comes preloaded on all Mac laptops. One of the co-founders of Apple, who is Steve Jobs, is dead, but if he were alive today he would also be very famous and rich like Bill Gates. According to StatCounter Global Stats, Mac OS X users account for 9.5% of the operating systems market as of September 2014, which means that Windows has the other 90%, but Mac OS X having almost 10% of the market is good. One reason for this is that Apple computers tend to be more expensive. However, many people prefer the look and feel of Mac OS X, although they are more expensive they do have a nice GUI, but as I say, quality has a price.
The last operating system I will talk about is Linux. Linux is the least used out of the three, but it is free. Linux was created by Linus Torvalds in Helsinki, which is a town in Finland, he is now known for his operating system, but he is not as rich as others because his operating system is free.
There are also operating systems in phones and tablets, but they don’t have as more of a complex operating system then PCs and Macs.

GUI
Modern operating systems use a graphical user interface, or GUI. GUIs are on everything phones, computers, watches, and tablets are just some important ones, although GUIs are more common on computers than anything else. Each operating system's GUI has a different look and feel, so if you switch to a different operating system it may seem unfamiliar at first, although that will happen because that operating system is new to you. Fun fact: Before GUIs, computers had a command-line interface, which meant users had to type every single command to the computer and the computer would only display text.
Antiviruses
Another piece of software you can have is an antivirus, which in my opinion is really important, like AVG or Bit-defender. The only downside on both the antiviruses, which isn't that much of a downside, is that they both cost money if you want the full version.
